Relief from Ulnar Nerve Compression

That aching pain on the inside of your elbow could be caused by a condition called ulnar nerve compression or entrapment, also known as cubital tunnel syndrome. The ulnar nerve is one of three main nerves in the arm. Symptoms of compression or entrapment occur mostly in your hand. Numbness and tingling in your palm, ring finger or pinky are the most common symptoms.

Like so many other conditions, the severity will dictate the type of treatment. Conservative treatments include taking non steroidal anti-inflammatories such as aspirin, ibuprofen or other over-the-counter pain relievers. A splint can immobilize and support the elbow during healing, and physical or occupational therapy can help strengthen the tern dons and ligaments of the hand and elbow. Severe cases may require surgery to release the entrapped nerve.
